House a Musician
Many of PCMF’s Festival musicians travel from other cities to stay in Portland for a week of rehearsals, performances, and other activities. The players stay with volunteers in the greater Portland community who have a guest room and can house them for the entire week they are here (typically Sunday–Sunday). PCMF musicians have a very busy schedule and some hosts remark that they hardly ever see their guests. We are seeking hosts who can provide a comfortable and private room where the musician can come and go as needed. We ask that hosts also provide simple breakfast items. PCMF provides all lunches and dinners, and handles musician transportation, so there is no need to provide rides at any time.
Volunteers who generously open their homes to PCMF’s performers play a huge behind-the-scenes part of what makes the Festival a success each year.
Host a Dinner
Hosting a dinner at your home during the Festival is a great way to get to know PCMF musicians in a relaxed atmosphere. Dinners begin around 5:30 pm and end around 7 or 7:30 as the players head to their evening rehearsals. The group is typically 10–20 people, and most dinners are buffet style.
Usher a Concert
Ushers direct traffic, “stuff” and pass out programs, help with post-concert receptions. Ushering is a fun way to connect with patrons, plus you get to watch the concert for free.
