PCMF @ SPACE: Searching for Home

Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 PM

SPACE Gallery, 538 Congress Street, Portland

Searching for Home explores the lush sonorities and sumptuous sound world of the lower strings, and probes the relationship between music and identity.  Featuring recent works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, Nico Muhly, and composer/cellist Paul Wiancko, a virtuoso viola duo by George Benjamin and a set of playful Swedish folk songs, the program also includes the world premiere of a new work for two violas and two cellos, inspired by the Isamu Noguchi exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art, commissioned by the Portland Chamber Music Festival under the direction of our new Artistic Director, violist Melissa Reardon.
