	Exciting New Partnership Brings New Dimension to Free Family Concert

	On August 15th, the Portland Chamber Music Festival (PCMF) will collaborate with the Peekaboo Children’s Center to present a free event at the Abromson Center that will bring activities and music to families in the Greater Portland area as part of the festival’s 17th season. The event will begin with an activity hour at 11 am hosted by the Peekaboo Children’s Center. This will be followed by the PCMF’s annual Children’s Concert at 12 noon. The concert features narrator Suzanne Nance of MPBN Radio and PCMF’s Resident Performers. Highlights will include a performance by Karim Al-Zand’s “Red Pajamas,” a work based on “She’ll be Comin’ Round the Mountain.” PCMF Executive Director and Artistic Co-Director Jennifer Elowitch explains, “My almost three year old twins are huge fans of the Peekaboo Center, and we go there every chance we can! As we visited the center more often, it occurred to me that a collaboration was just the thing to introduce our annual children’s concert to a wider audience and provide a fun service to area families at the same time.” Marina Waisman, the Peekaboo Center’s director, expressed her excitement about her participation in the Festival, “We’re delighted to be a part of this wonderful event and to provide another occasion for families to enjoy their time together. The concert presents an invaluable opportunity for children to appreciate and experience music in a setting that’s specifically designed for them. What’s more is that the event is free, making it accessible to everyone.” The Family Fun Day takes place on August 15th at the Abromson Center at 88 Bedford Street on USM’s Portland Campus. About the Peekaboo Children’s Center: The 5,000 sq.ft. indoor playground at the Dana Warp Mill in Westbrook has been providing endless opportunities for play since February 2010. Its many activity areas, colorful installations, and abundance of toys – made of natural materials -- are well-loved by many children in the Greater Portland area.
